UK: DP World, Shell Open Tanker Jetty at London Gateway

UK - DP World, Shell Open Tanker Jetty at London Gateway

DP World’s London Gateway and Shell are celebrating the joint efforts to advance London Gateway into an efficient fuel handling facility that will provide a continuous supply of energy to the UK.

These joint efforts have been marked by the official opening of a state of the art tanker jetty at London Gateway which will deliver a quarter of all aviation fuel to the airports in the South East of England from Stanford-le-Hope, Essex.

The jetty at London Gateway is now receiving its first shipments, offloading as much as 90,000 tons of fuel when fully laden.

Rachel Crocker, Shell Business Development Manager in the UK, said: “This jetty is important for Shell’s aviation business in the UK. We import two million tons of aviation fuel a year through this facility and the vast majority of it goes to the UK’s south-eastern airports, primarily London Heathrow. This project has created a legacy for the UK that will secure jet supplies for many years to come.”

The jetty terminal has been built on time and on budget by DP World. It runs 365 days a year.
