UK: OEG Offshore Signs $600.000 Contract with Seadrill to Supply Containers and Special Units

Aberdeen-based oil services group OEG Offshore (OEG) has won a £400,000 ($600,000 USD) contract with offshore deepwater drilling firm Seadrill.

OEG secured a deal to deliver a workshop, containers, baskets and specialist units for use on board Seadrill’s deepwater drillship West Gemini, which will be transported to Angola for a two year project with Total Oil.

The contract was secured through OEG’s Aberdeen office and will also involve its Singapore subsidiary, OEG Asia Pacific PTE (OEG APac), which will manage the manufacturing of units and their final delivery to the drillship in Singapore prior to its dispatch to West Africa.

John Aw, Regional Director of OEG APac, said: “Our global link-ups played a key part in this contract win. Seadrill’s Norwegian division placed the order with our office in Aberdeen and, given the location of West Gemini, involved the Singapore office, which will oversee the majority of the contract.

“The delivery of high quality products and a commitment to a bespoke customer service continue to be priorities for all of our international bases and this particular contract will involve the design of a made-to-order workshop in our Aberdeen premises, which will be shipped out to the APac region – all within a tight deadline.

“OEG recognises the importance of having local technical assistance available when needed and our global hubs in Singapore, Aberdeen and Houston allow us to provide our customers with a level of commitment and support that cannot be matched without having a service in the country.

“The presence of our worldwide link-up, as well as an extensive fleet in several strategic locations, creates a hassle-free process for customers all through one contact – OEG. Our service provides a comprehensive package, from the design stage through to delivery, meaning a lot less work for the customer.”

Adrian Featherstonhaugh, Technical Leader of West Gemini, added: “OEG was awarded this contract on the back of its excellent reputation as a provider of high standard units as well as its attention to detail. We have full confidence in the firm’s ability to deliver within tight time frames and will have no hesitation in working with them again in the future.”
