UK: ROVOP Wins Hat-Trick of Awards

UK ROVOP Wins Hat-Trick of Awards.

Fast-growing subsea specialist ROVOP has won a hat-trick of awards in less than a year after being named Great Small Company at last night’s SPE Offshore Achievement Awards.

The Offshore Achievement Awards recognise exceptional business growth, innovation, safety breakthroughs and collaborative efforts, all of which contribute to ensuring that the UK remains at the forefront of the international energy scene.

ROVOP has experienced outstanding growth since the company’s inception in 2011 as a subsea specialist which is 100% focused on delivering ROV services through its dedicated talent pool of experts for both the global oil & gas and offshore wind industries.

The Aberdeenshire-headquartered company has created more than 40 highly skilled, export-driven jobs in the last 18 months. With £3.5million of contracts signed in January alone, 2013 looks to be another strong year for the business.

Managing Director Steven Gray said: “This industry recognition is a great achievement for ROVOP, particularly in a year when many subsea companies have also enjoyed considerable success. It is also a huge testament to the whole team’s hard work and commitment to helping to establish the company’s leading position and ensure its on-going success.

“Over the past 18 months, ROVOP’s business has grown significantly through a combination of investing in strong, skilled people and developing a cutting edge fleet of ROVs. We have pledged a further commitment of £15m over the next 18 months, which will see the purchase of hydraulic and electric ROVs, creating an additional 60 jobs.

“Our reputation has resulted in a series of major contract wins across the UK and Europe and this reputation will be further strengthened through industry accolades such as the SPE Offshore Achievement award.”

The award is the third that ROVOP has won in just nine months. In June 2012, ROVOP was named Promising New Business at the Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise before going onto collect the Business Growth accolade at the Scottish Green Energy Awards in December. The company was also a finalist in Subsea UK’s 2013 business awards for Best New Enterprise.

Earlier this month (March), the UK Secretary of State for energy and climate change hailed ROVOP as ‘a leading specialist in its field’ and one which is ensuring that the country remains at the global vanguard of the energy industry.

The Rt Hon Ed Davey, who visited ROVOP during a visit to Aberdeen and tried out one of its work class ROV systems, said: “ROVOP is a visionary company which has fast become a leading specialist in its field.

“It is an example of how British companies are playing a pivotal role in ensuring that the UK remains at the global vanguard of the energy industry by capitalising on their expertise and reputation for innovation.”

Headquartered in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, ROVOP was set up by Mr Gray along with Chairman, Mark Vorenkamp.
