UK: South Boats and Iceni Marine Sign Contract for Construction of South Catamaran

South Boats Special Projects Ltd. and Iceni Marine Services Ltd. announce that the two companies have signed a contract for the construction of a South Catamaran 14m RRV to be named ‘Iceni Pride’.

The ‘Iceni Pride’ is a first of class South Catamaran 14m RRV developed from the very successful 12m RRV, which has been in production for some years. The GRP manufactured vessel will start production shortly and will be delivered during March 2012 and will be fourth South Catamaran in the Iceni Marine Services fleet joining ‘Iceni Spirit’, ‘Iceni Courage’ and ‘Iceni Defiant’ transferring technicians to UK offshore wind farm turbines.

The high specification vessel benefits from three individual cabins forward and a large versatile and modular wheelhouse allowing the vessel to be re-configured to a survey specification very quickly. Twelve individual Beurteaux crew seats provide exceptional comfort levels and are mounted to a track system, all with tables, document wallet and lifejacket stowage’s. The vessel is to be powered by twin Caterpillar C9 marine diesel engines rated at 510mhp driving Hamilton HJ364 water jet units complete with Blue Arrow Mouse Boat control system for speeds in excess of 28 knots.

Ben Colman of South Boats is quoted as sayingWe are delighted to announce this further order from Iceni Marine Services and look forward to building this fourth vessel for Richard, Guy and Ken. The 14m RRV is a natural development of the 12m RRV and we have worked hard on the design of this vessel over many months to ensure its success within the offshore wind farm crew transfer market”.

Richard Thurlow of Iceni Marine Services is quoted as saying “We are pleased to extend our relationship with South Boats and add a further vessel to our fleet. The ‘Iceni Pride’ is replacing the ‘Topline’, our oldest vessel, which will give us an all South Boats fleet, ensuring our clients of the highest quality possible.
