UK: TAG Increases Workforce by Four Times

UK TAG Increases Workforce by Four Times

TAG Energy Solutions has increased its workforce by more than four times following the awarding of its contract to provide monopiles and transition pieces for the Humber Gateway offshore wind farm.

Production of the 16 monopiles and transition pieces for the E.ON development has begun at TAG Energy Solutions’ riverside facility in North East England, in addition to a number of smaller projects, has led to the company expanding its workforce to 130.

In addition, TAG Energy Solutions has established a supply chain of five North East sub-contracting companies and suppliers for the project, which has supported the creation of a further 100 jobs in the region.

Among the new appointments at TAG Energy Solutions is new Business Development Manager Richard Feenan. Richard will support TAG Energy Solutions’ future business strategy as it aims to secure further projects in the Northern Europe offshore wind market and global oil & gas sector.

Richard has more than 11 years’ experience in sales and business development across sectors including Subsea Cable Installation, National Power Systems Demand Management, Renewable Energy Consultancy and Engineering Services.

Most recently Richard was European Sales Manager for subsea services and cable installation company, Global Marine Energy (GME), which is part of the Prysmian Group. Managing over £200m worth of tenders, including securing a cable installation project with Centrica for Lincs Offshore Wind Farm in the UK, Richard developed a successful practice at GME, which he aims to build upon at TAG Energy Solutions.

Richard Feenan said: “I have been greatly impressed with the company’s current and future plans for growth. TAG Energy Solutions is becoming an established and stable company in the industry with a good track record in oil and gas and with an increasing level of renewables projects experience.

“We have a great team here with many years successful experience from the board to the production floor to ensure quality, timely and safe operations.

“TAG Energy Solutions is perfectly placed in both geography and production ability to be a major part of the supply chain for UK Round 3 and upcoming European offshore renewables projects.”

Alex Dawson, Chief Executive of TAG Energy Solutions, said: “I am very proud to have been able to increase our workforce substantially on the back of the Humber Gateway contract and some other smaller projects. This region has a core of very good, experienced engineers and it is good to be in a position to attract them to TAG Energy Solutions.

“However, the recruitment process has revealed the skills gaps that are starting to appear in our labour market. Recruiting Project Managers and Project Engineers has been particularly challenging, but our reputation and high profile project stream has enabled us to fill the positions.”
