Ulstein Verft Names PSV Blue Thunder

Newbuild PSV Blue Thunder was named at Ulstein Verft today, 8 May 2013. The ship is the fourth of six PX121 designs for Blue Ship Invest, and HR director Torild Bugge in Ulstein Group was the Lady Sponsor.

ULSTEIN PX121 has been developed with a view to the general PSV market trends. Ulstein’s goal was to present a vessel that has capacities, and performance, close to the larger PSV segment while still at a cost that will provide excellent value-for-money to the owner/operator.

The vessel is designed for environmental friendly operations. The vessel is certified by Det Norske Veritas according to the latest rules for class Clean Design. A Green Passport is issued. The hull form, with the ULSTEIN X-BOW®, combined with diesel electric propulsion system, ensures the best performances with regard to fuel consumption, sea keeping, station keeping, and speed.

Blue Thunder will be operated by Atlantic Offshore and has received a four-month contract for Statoil with an option for a further four monthly options.
