Underwater Technology Conference 2011 to be Held in Bergen (Norway)

“The future of the subsea industry depends more on how to incorporate good ideas into common work practice than merely on being a site for innovative performance.”

The Underwater Technology Foundation (UTF) once again welcomes you to a new Underwater Technology Conference (UTC), the 17th UTC since we started in 1980.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Subsea Future – Leveraging Innovation and Industrialization”, focusing on the efforts made by placing innovation and smart thinking in an industrialized context. The future of the subsea industry depends more on how to incorporate good ideas into common work practice than merely on being a site for innovative performance. This approach of looking more into the possibilities of generating business tends to diverge somewhat from earlier conferences where the focus has mainly been on the innovative areas. However, you will still find the majority of the presentations challenging, innovative and forward-thinking, because today’s ideas are tomorrow’s solutions.

This year we are also pleased to present a number of high-level international keynote speakers who should provide the participants with valuable information and knowhow. The Subsea Chief Engineers Challenges session is one special new feature of the conference. During this session, subsea chief engineers from different operators will name and discuss their main challenges, with the hope of inspiring the audience to create solutions for the future.

Last year’s Crash Course was a great success. This year, it will be replaced by a Subsea Investor Forum hosted by NCE Subsea in cooperation with UTF, SUT, Connect Vest, Sparebanken Vest and Norne Securities. The course aims at establishing an arena where industry and finance players can meet and get acquainted with each other, and where new companies can present themselves for finance and investors. In this way, we hope to promote the opportunities in the subsea industries.

The content and performance of the exhibition has also been further developed, with the aim of attracting a broader range of visitors.

It is, therefore, the UTF and UTC programme committee’s sincere hope that this conference will bring new knowledge and inspiration to all of you taking the opportunity to join us in Bergen.
