As OPB reports, the first large scale wave energy research site could find its place in Oregon.

Namely, the Department of Energy has granted USD 4 million for the project development.

Belinda Batten, who directs the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center at Oregon State University, said the project will help make the wave energy more commercial.

“In order to test those devices, we have to connect to the grid. And right now there’s no way to do that in the U.S,” Batten says.
