USA: Peterbilt Receives Heckmann Order for 200 LNG Trucks

Peterbilt Motors Company announced the purchase of 200 Peterbilt Model 367 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks. Heckmann Corporation has partnered with Peterbilt Motors Company to transition its tractor-trailer fleet from traditional diesel vehicles to natural gas vehicles (NGVs).

Powered by the Westport GX engine, Peterbilt’s Model 367 LNG offers up to 475 horsepower and 1,750 ft-lbs of torque. The 15-litre Westport GX engine uses high pressure direct injection, proprietary fuel injectors, (HPDI) fuel system, specialized cryogenic fuel tanks, and associated electronic components to facilitate robust performance and reliable operation. This technology uses a low cost, cleaner-burning fuel than diesel with no compromises on engine torque, power, fuel economy, or drivability, in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent. Peterbilt’s Model 386 LNG is also available the with Westport GX engine, and is an excellent option for line-haul, tanker and bulk fleets.

Heckmann Corporation is a water solutions company focused on water issues in oil and shale gas exploration and production. The company will use the trucks to service its customers’ natural gas wells and provide water handling services in conjunction with its system of pipelines and disposal wells.
