VIDEO: Finlandia Gets New Scrubber

Danish manufacturer Marine Exhaust Technology, part of ME Production, has completed the installation of an exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS) on DFDS’ RoRo vessel Finlandia at Fayard shipyard in Denmark.

The video above shows the open loop scrubber system being retrofitted in the existing funnel of the vessel, replacing a part of the exhaust pipe.

The scrubber has a dry weigth of 11,800 kg, with an exhaust gas flow of 88,000 kg/h.

Built in 2000, the 8,699 Finlandia features a length of 162.5 meters and a width of 20.5 meters.

The Ro-Ro cargo vessel is sailing on the route Rosyth (Scotland) – Zeebrugge (Belgium).

The vessel’s AIS data show it’s currently sailing in the North Sea, underway using engine, having departed from Rosyth.

Previously this year, the company also invested in a major refit and rebranding project covering its five ferries – three DFDS’ ‘D-Class’ ferries and two ferries acquired from a former cross-channel operator  – the Côte des Flandres and the Côte des Dunes. Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque carried out the project.
