Multiple fly overs were done throughout the day by US Coast Guard, Nikiski Fire Department and Hilcorp personnel to monitor the situation.

It has been confirmed that the fire started and remained in the living quarters area of the platform. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

According to the Unified Command, this was not a gas production related incident and there has been no release of hydrocarbons to Cook Inlet.

All four people aboard the platform were safely evacuated and there were no injuries reported.

“Our goal is to mitigate any potential risk to the environment,” said Cmdr. Shane Montoya, the Coast Guard Federal On-Scene Coordinator and acting Coast Guard Sector Anchorage commander.

According to Hilcorp’s Spokeswoman Lori Nelsen there were no signs of a spill and no wildlife has been impacted by the fire.

Hilcorp said there was a maximum capacity of approximately 10,000 gallons of petroleum products on the platform.
