VIDEO: High Seas Gun Battle between Pirates and Iranian Container Ship

Piracy on the world’s seas has seen a major decrease over the last five years, with 297 ships attacked in 2012, compared with 439 in 2011, as revealed in the latest International Maritime Bureau’s (IMB) report on January 16.

This has been made possible by naval and armed guard protection, but the seas off East and West Africa remain dangerous

The exact time, date, name of the ship or source of the video are unknown but the fact is that armed security guards are the best defence against pirates.

The video shows an armed security team from an unidentified Iranian container ship fending off pirates by utilization of fire arms.

Allegedly, six Somali pirates were killed in the attack and nine were captured.
