Launching of Jumbo’s New Heavy Lift Vessel

The 17th September saw the marking of an important milestone in the construction of Jumbo’s revolutionary new K3000 class vessels. At Brodosplit, Croatia, the first of the two vessels, the Jumbo Kinetic was launched.

Many were there to witness the momentous occasion, including members of the Jumbo management team and personnel of the shipyard, Brodosplit. Godmother of the ship, Mrs. Philippine Kahn, wife of Mr. Michael Kahn cut the rope with the champagne and symbolically “named” ship ‘JUMBO KINETIC’.

After the launch a party was held to celebrate this exciting event, which brings the K-class a step closer. Once operational the new vessels will set new standards in the maritime heavy lift sector. The vessels have large, unobstructed hold and flush decks and are certified 1A Finnish Swedish Ice Class, for operations in Arctic areas. Work will now continue on the Jumbo Kinetic in Croatia, following which the vessel will sail to Huisman’s yard in China where she will be outfitted with dual 1,500t mast cranes, enabling lifting of up to 3,000t at an outreach of 20m.
