VIDEO: World’s Fastest Ship Design

Business & Finance

The video above explains how the industry works to reduce the speeds in order to increase the number of ships and enlarge steel production and shipbuilding. The video also introduces a high-speed ship design which can be a possible solution to slow-steaming ships.

The video reveals that there are 50,000 ships in the world, which can be replaced by 10,000 ships with a speed of 80 knots. These high-speed ships can transport the same load amount.

Developed by Norway-based InSvivia Technologies AS, the new InSvivia ship concept enables ultra-high speeds of 80 knots, reaching 74% less fuel consumption.

A SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin) minimizes the waterplane area and cuts the water surface unaffected of waves and wave resistance. It works like two submarines driving beneath the waves that carrying a platform above the waves, with a constantly horizontal position.

The ship is designed for more than ten-meter waves and is able to cross the Pacific in two and a half days, according to the company.
