Although 2014 has so far been full of shipping industry’s firsts as well as record-breaking feats, Mediterranean Shipping Company will make sure that we enter the new year with a bang by adding the world’s largest container vessel, a 19, 224 TEU MSC Oscar, to its fleet.

This 395.4m long and 59 m wide container vessel, owned by China’s Bank of Communications and on long-term charter to MSC, will enter the service in the first week of January 2015.

The container vessel is registered in Panama and will join the Albatross service later in January.
The vessel was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and classed by DNV GL.

The video presents you with the process of building the world’s largest container vessel, from the beginning to the end, so enjoy it.
