Vopak commissions Jurong Island LPG facility

Vopak’s liquefied petroleum gas facility at the Banyan terminal on Jurong Island received its first cargo to start-up the first independent LPG import and storage facility in Southeast Asia.

The cargo delivered aboard the Sun Aries will be further delivered to ExxonMobil Asia Pacific, Vopak said in its statement on Monday.

The LPG facility has an initial capacity of close to 80,000 cubic meters and is an 80/20 partnership between Vopak Terminals Singapore and SK Gas International.

Damian Chan, Executive Director, Energy and Chemicals, Singapore Economic Development Board added that the new LPG facility enables the crackers to tap on alternative feedstock, strengthening the chemicals value chain.
