Wärtsilä to build satellite LNG terminal in Finland

Wärtsilä Corporation informed on Thursday it has signed a turnkey contract to supply an LNG receiving terminal to be built in Raahe, Finland.

An engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract has been signed with the energy company, Raahen Voima, Wärtsilä said in its statement.

The scope includes two LNG vacuum insulated storage tanks with a combined net volume of 1400-cbm, an LNG regasification system, truck loading and unloading functions, and all required civil structures.

The LNG terminal is scheduled to be operational in April 2018.

Liquefied natural gas will be delivered to Raahe by trucks from Wärtsilä’s first LNG terminal, the Tornio Manga facility in Finnish Lapland.

SSAB Raahe will use the liquefied natural gas at its steel mill for heat and power generation.
