Wärtsilä to Deliver Dreifa FRU Regasification Module

Norway-based Dreifa Energy has entered into an agreement with Wärtsilä Oil and Gas Systems to secure delivery of the regasification module for the first Dreifa floating regasification unit (FRU).

The company said that the deal is a significant step forward in confirming a key part of the overall capital expenditure for the Dreifa FRU.

In late November, classification society DNV GL granted an Approval in Principle (AiP) to Dreifa Energy for its FRU, which consists of a regasification plant and associated utility systems located on the deck of a platform supply vessel. The unit operates in combination with an LNG carrier acting as a floating storage unit.

The AiP, which is based on DNV GL’s examination of the basic engineering package developed by Dreifa Energy throughout the second and third quarters of 2017, confirms the design’s compliance with the rules of the society and “provides clarity on the regulatory framework and classification procedure towards final approval.”

The Approval in Principle and the agreement with Wärtsilä enable Dreifa Energy to execute on a fast track project schedule by securing the long lead items for the first Dreifa FRU conversion project, the company concluded.
