WATCH: Maria Subsea Templates Installation

The video above shows Wintershall’s flagship development in Norway achieving a new milestone as the subsea templates for the Maria field were installed last week some 210 kilometres offshore Kristiansund, Norway.

Two subsea templates arrived in Kristiansund in May onboard the heavy load carrier Meri.

The field solution will see the two seabed installations linked to three existing platforms in the Norwegian Sea: Kristin, Heidrun and Åsgard B.

With size of a basketball court and weighing about 285 tons, the templates were installed at a water depth of 300 meters approximately 20 kilometers east of the Kristin field and about 45 kilometres south of the Heidrun field.

Last year in September, investments in the Maria development were estimated at around 15.3 billion NOK, including development drilling. Recoverable reserves on the field are expected around 180 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe). The planned production startup for Maria is in 2018.
