Wireline Engineering Establishes Kuala Lumpur Base

Aberdeen-based wireline and well intervention technology specialist Wireline Engineering has boosted operations in the Far East by investing in a new office and supply base in Kuala Lumpur and appointing Craig Glatley as business development manager for the region.

Glatley has been appointed to head up a new regional sales office in Kuala Lumpur, serving Wireline Engineering’s extensive activity in and also reflecting expanding opportunities for the company throughout the wider territory of SE Asia and Australia.

Glately will be responsible for supporting the sales director in promoting the company’s products and services, maximising sales within the region and ensuring customers’ requirements are met to the highest standards of quality and care.

He joins Wireline Engineering with more than 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, previously having held the position of business development manager for Sigma Engineering in Abu Dhabi. Prior to this, he was regional manager for Wireline Engineering in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for four years.

Wireline Engineering Managing Director Bill Petrie said: “The new office and appointment was strategic to the long term development and growth of the regional business. Many of Wireline’s Engineering’s Malaysian customers have their head offices nearby but Kuala Lumpur also offers the ideal location from which to develop the rest of the region.

“With Craig having previously worked for us heading up our MENA region he was the ideal candidate for this new position. His in-depth knowledge of the company, its products, services and general ethos means he will fit right into the role and we look forward to his valuable input in the development of our Far East operations.

“By establishing a new regional supply and servicing base in Kuala Lumpur we are also committing to improving the operational support we are able to offer our customers in the area and we hope to have this fully operational by October this year.”

Glately said: “The Far East market is growing at an impressive rate and it is essential we have a strong presence in the region in order to benefit from this. Relocating offers me an opportunity to further develop the business from ground level, and I have already built up numerous contacts in a bid to grow Wireline Engineering’s portfolio of clients.

“There are huge opportunities for Wireline Engineering throughout the region and we have already seen the benefits of having an increased presence, with over $1m worth of new work already secured and impressive growth prospects for 2013 and beyond.

“I’m delighted to be back working at Wireline Engineering and look forward to helping to bring additional benefits to all of our customers.”

Wireline Engineering develops original well intervention and completion technologies for the oil and gas industry worldwide.

The company was established in 1998 and its headquarters are located in Aberdeen, Scotland. It has international offices in the Americas, Middle East and Far East and employs 40 people worldwide.
