Workshop to Highlight Present and Future of Indian ports

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organising a half day workshop on ‘Look East Policy – Wake up Call for Ports and Logistics’ on November 2 at Williamson Magor Hall, Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Royal Exchange, 6 Netaji Subhas Road.

The workshop will highlight the present and future of ports, shipping and trade in the 12th Five-Year Plan.

The specific topics to be covered include transport and logistics in the 12th Five-Year Plan; containerisation—the future mode of transportation with particular reference to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust’s past, present and future role in this sector; and development of Dhamra port.

The eminent speakers expected to grace the event are Dr Manoj Singh, Advisor (Transport), Planning Commission, government of India; Mr L. Radhakrishnan, IAS, Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust; and Mr Sharad Goel, General Manager (Ports), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.
