Maersk Miami had an engine room fire off India

Maersk Line has temporary lost its container carrier Maersk Miami, which had its engine room destroyed by fire while on a voyage off the coast of India. En route from Hong Kong to Colombo a fire broke out in the engine room. It was so intense that the crew of 23 was evacuated to two other container carriers in the vicinity of the Maersk Miami. Before leaving, the fire-extinguishing system was activated. During the subsequent inspection, it turned out that the system had succeeded in extinguishing the fire. So far, the vessel is still at sea awaiting a salvage operation.
