LNG carrier Future Ace

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, held a christening ceremony for a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier, currently under construction for JX Ocean, on March 12.

Named Future Ace, the new ship will be the twelfth of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding’s latest third-generation, 83,000 m3-class LPG carriers.

In addition to increased energy-efficiency, the ship will have the capability to adapt flexibly to major LPG terminals worldwide, as well as specifications compatible with the new expanded Panama Canal, the shipbuilder explained.

Featuring a length of 230 meters and a width of 36.6 meters, Future Ace is scheduled for completion and delivery for the end of March, 2019.

The 48,167 ton vessel was launched on December 27, 2018. It is equipped with the Mitsubishi SOx scrubber system, which complies with the tighter regulations on marine SOx emissions that will come into effect in 2020.
