Sinopec Group appoints new President

China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) has appointed Dai Houliang as the new President, Director and Vice Party Chief of Sinopec Group.

Sinopec announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Dai Houliang as President following a senior executives meeting on Monday.

Former president Wang Tianpu resigned from his Director and Vice Chairman positions with immediate effect in April 2015 following a bribery scandal. According to Sinopec’s press statement from April 27 2015, Wang was suspected of severe violation of relevant discipline and laws.

New CEO

According to Sinopec’s info the new CEO’s management career at Sinopec started in 1997 when he was appointed as Vice President of Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Company. In May 2006 he was appointed as Senior Vice President and CFO of Sinopec Corp. and in June 2008, he was appointed as member of the Party Committee of China Petrochemical Corporation.

He is the first President and Director of the Sinopec Group since his predecessor resigned the position over a year ago.
