MHWirth to create new engineering services company

MHWirth, an Akastor-owned provider of drilling solutions and services, has decided to create a new company from one of its subsidiaries.


MHWirth said that MHWirth Engineering Services was in the process of being carved out of the company to form Frontica Engineering.

The company will be a 100-percent owned subsidiary of MHWirth and will be located in Kristiansand, Norway. Frontica Engineering has 75 engineers and the company will be operational from the start of April 2020.

Eirik Bergsvik, chairman of MHWirth, said: “The envelope of opportunities will broaden for Frontica Engineering, approaching engineering projects within offshore oil and gas and offshore renewables.”

According to the drilling solutions provider, the company is building on decades of experience as a specialized engineering partner for developing and documenting compliant topside solutions related to drilling facilities, FPSOs, wellhead platforms, and other offshore installations, all in accordance to customers’ needs and requirements.

Providing supervision and engineering services Frontica Engineering project teams deliver services regarding engineering management, feasibility studies, conceptual design, front-end engineering design, detailed engineering, procurement and construction follow-up activities within all relevant engineering disciplines.

Frontica Engineering aims to balance its portfolio maintaining foothold in the oil and gas market combined with becoming an engineering partner for the offshore renewables industry.
