Australia: Ocean Trenching Technologies Develops SORD Sub Ocean Rock Drills

Ocean Trenching Technologies announces that they have secured a substantial R&D facility North of Sydney NSW.

The property and workshop will be utilised for the research and development of specialist subsea construction & cable lay equipment to be used in Oil and Gas, Energy Sector.

Further development of the subsea crawling tracked SORD Sub Ocean Rock Drills will be carried out with the projected release in the first quarter of 2012.

The tracked vehicles will be developed to suit multiple applications including sea floor rock bolting, Geotechnical Engineering (Geotech) sampling and subsea drill and blast.

The Innovation Centre has been staffed with engineers from a global market and will provide Ocean Trenching Technologies a valuable resource to continuously improve specialist equipment for use in the offshore industry.

Tom Wilson General Manager of Ocean Trenching Technologies quoted “This is a big day for OTT and we are confident that this new facility will afford us a strong foothold in the current market.”

Ocean Trenching Technologies will enter into an ECI with companies in order that equipment can be adapted to suit project specifics.

This assists in the streamlining of project programs and valued engineering during the preconstruction phase.
