Kleven Hosts Edda Freya Naming Ceremony

Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven is marking this year’s first naming ceremony with the christening of BN 373, subsea construction vessel, Edda Freya.

Kleven has built the 150-meter vessel for Haugesund-based vessel owner Østensjø Rederi.

After delivery, Edda Freya is scheduled to join the DeepOcean fleet and execute the company’s SURF installation contract for Statoil.

With a length of 149.8 metres, a width of 27 metres and 2300 square metres of total deck space the vessel is expected to boost DeepOcean’s competitiveness in the offshore construction market.

Edda Freya, designed by Salt Ship Design (304 OCV) in cooperation with Østensjø Rederi and DeepOcean, is equipped with a 150 tons dual tensioner vertical lay system (VLS) located in the moon pool, a 3000 tons carousel below deck and a 400 tons active heave compensated (AHC) knuckle boom main crane that can lift 600 tons in double fall mode.

The naming ceremony event took place today, April 15 at Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway.
