Umbilicals International Set Up Texas Facility

Business & Finance

Umbilicals International has opened its new quayside manufacturing in Channelview, Texas.

The site is beside the ship channel and houses the company’s flagship horizontal helix machine, extrusion line and supporting equipment.

Umbilicals International said it can now offer the typical longer-length cables and umbilicals required for SURF packages. The company will add additional lines and handling equipment from Seanamic Group company Caley Ocean Systems in 2018.

Bob Conners, CEO of Umbilicals International, said: “This site gives Umbilicals International a new and strong future. Our enhanced capabilities at Channelview, coupled with our established 100,000sqft facility in Stafford, TX, means we can offer an extensive range of cable and umbilical products which are an expected component of SURF packages.”

Today’s development comes three months after Umbilicals International opened its UK facility in Glasgow, Scotland. The firm became part of the Seanamic Group in 2015, and works alongside Caley Ocean Systems, IMES International and Flexlife.

Conners continued: “Like our Stafford facility, this Channelview site isn’t just for us: it’s for the Group. The integration offered within the Seanamic Group eases clients’ project costs through reduced interface management, and lean approaches to projects. We are looking forward our new site becoming a foundation stone for the Group’s future.”
