South Korea’s LNG imports decline in October

South Korea, the world’s second-largest buyer of LNG, imported 2.76 million tonnes of LNG in October, down 13 percent from the same month in 2013.

The average LNG price paid rose 11.7 percent to $16.16/MMBtu in October as compared to the year before, customs data shows.

Kogas of South Korea sold 2.51 million tonnes of LNG in October, down 9.8 percent compared to the same month in 2013, it said in a filling to the stock exchange.

The world’s largest corporate buyer of LNG said its gas sales into the power sector were at 1.34 million tonnes, a drop of 13.6 percent on year, while its city gas sales were down 5.1 percent on year to 1.17 million tonnes.
