ACSM’s offshore support vessel undergoing ‘major’ upgrade

ACSM, a Spanish provider of solutions for submarine cable installation, as of recently part of Prysmian Group, is carrying out a major upgrade of its 2003-built offshore support vessel (OSV).

According to ACSM’s reports, the OSV Genesis is currently undergoing improvements and upgrades at the shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, also including a crane with active heave compensation (AHC) delivered by Heila Cranes already been installed on deck.

The OSV is the company’s newest acquisition, permanently equipped with a 200HP UHD WC remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The 90.20-meter-long vessel was built in Norway in 2003.

Genesis is suited for construction support, ROV inspection and intervention, route clearance, pre-lay grapnel run (PLGR), mattress installation, geophysical and geotechnical survey activities.

Of note, ACSM was recently acquired by Italian cabling giant Prysmian Group. As communicated in January, Prysmian said that integrating the Spanish firm will broaden its range of solutions for energy and telecom customers as a one-stop shop and accelerate the full vertical integration of its submarine activities.
