BIMP nations to cooperate on fisheries development project

The Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (EAGA) Working Group on Fisheries is writing an initial draft Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for a joint fisheries development between BIMP countries (Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines).

The draft will centre on policies for the sustainable management of tuna spawning grounds in the Coral Triangle. The spawning area covers over 1.6 billion acres and has a very rich population of marine life such as corals, fish, crustaceans, sea turtles and marine plants.
