Oman Shipping Company Takes Delivery of Its latest VLCC from DSME

Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. (OSC) has taken delivery of its latest Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), “AS SUWAYQ”, at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd (DSME), Okpo, South Korea, on January 11th 2012.

“AS SUWAYQ” has a 317,000 DWT capacity and is 333 m in length overall, 60 m in beam with the design draft of 21 m. This is OSC’s second VLCC delivery, out of an order of five, from Daewoo Ship Building and Marine Engineering Co. and the Oman Shipping Company’s 12th out of a total fleet of 17 VLCCs.

Since commercial operations began in 2003, OSC now has a fleet of 31 vessels in operation, and an order book of 10 vessels to be delivered between now and 2013. The DWT capacity of the current fleet is around 4.9 million DWT, and is expected to increase to around 8 million DWT once all the vessels are delivered.
