ACE Winches Shortlisted for Outstanding Graduate Programme at OAA

ACE Winches has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Graduate Programme Award Category of the 2015 Offshore Achievement Awards.

The annual awards are organised and hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section and recognise exceptional performance across a range of categories. The Outstanding Graduate Programme Award is sponsored by Robert Gordon University and recognises innovation and excellence in a graduate programme in which companies have excelled in the development, assessment and recognition of graduates in the offshore energy sector.

Ian Phillips, SPE Aberdeen director and chief executive of the Oil and Gas Innovation Centre, said: “The 2015 Offshore Achievement Awards have again attracted an exceptionally high calibre of entrants and we are delighted to announce the very strong line-up of finalists this year. Once again, judges were impressed by the talent and performance demonstrated in the UK offshore industry.  These awards are a great platform for companies and individuals to gain recognition and this year, we have had more entries than ever.”

“We are also pleased to announce the shortlist for this year’s new category, Outstanding Graduate Programme, and are confident that the initiatives devised by each company will inspire others to ‘grow their own’ skilled personnel.”

Shirley Butcher, HR Manager at ACE Winches, said: “It is a great honour to be shortlisted with other reputable energy industry companies. The ACE Winches Graduate Scheme is IMechE accredited and currently has 18 graduates participating.”

“Our scheme is committed to engaging and developing young people, providing them with support and a rounded experience to improve their technical knowledge and business acumen.  In turn this provides the company with a stream of chartered engineers who are capable of applying theoretical knowledge and understanding of company technology and contribute to the overall success of ACE Winches.”

More than 500 industry professionals are expected to attend the awards ceremony, taking place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) on Thursday 12 March 2015.
