Aker Solutions’ Men Lost in Helicopter Crash Off Norway

Aker Solutions has confirmed that three employees and a contractor working for the company were on board the helicopter that crashed today off the coast of Bergen in Norway.

The helicopter was on route to Bergen from the Statoil-operated Gullfaks B platform in the North Sea.

The cause of the crash, which occurred outside Turøy in Fjell municipality, has not been determined. There were 13 people on board.

“This is a tragic accident and our thoughts are with the families and friends of the deceased,” said Luis Araujo, chief executive officer of Aker Solutions. “Our priority now is to take care of our employees and the families of those who have been affected.”

The employees worked for Aker Solutions’ maintenance, modifications and operations unit in Norway on behalf of Statoil.

On Monday, The Norwegian oil & gas giant informed that Arild Fossedal and Odd Geir Turøy (Aker Solutions) have been confirmed dead.
