ANL Terminates Patrick Contract at Port Botany

Business & Finance

Melbourne-headquartered carrier ANL Container Line has terminated the stevedoring contract with Patrick at Port of Botany due to delays on its weekly Tranztas service that connects Australia and New Zealand.

The delays started back in April, when the shipping company experienced schedule disruptions in Australia. The delays have been caused by a redevelopment project at the port that saw the terminal close from March 29 to April 2nd for the final commissioning of the automation project.

During the period, the vessels were subcontracted to DP World and Hutchinson Ports Australia.

However, as the delays persisted over the Easter and beyond, ANL resorted to an alternative.

“This performance from our terminal provider was totally unsatisfactory so we have taken the decision to terminate the contract and move the Tranztas service to Hutchison in Sydney, and to DP World in Melbourne,” John Lines, Managing Director ANL Container Line Pty. Limited, said.

“It is expected that these new arrangements will help facilitate a quick return to the fixed day weekly schedule we had committed to deliver in the Tasman,” he added.
