Bardot Sets Up OTEC Simulator

Bardot Group has completed its latest R&D project: an experimentation platform named OTEC Lab.

This facility is dedicated to model and optimize the Ocean Thermal Energy Converter (OTEC) system developed by Bardot’s business unit specialized in marine renewable energy.

OTEC technology uses seawater to generate electricity through a circuit fed by cold deep seawater and hot surface water.

Bardot OTEC Lab is a full-scale simulator built to optimize the productivity of the OTEC system and generate maximum power. A detailed study of the environmental and technical data (water temperature, flow, turbine and heat exchanger efficiency) should establish the best setup for a maximal efficiency.

Bardot’s range of OTEC offers systems with net power output from 0.3 MW to more than 20 MW, covering the energy needs for every size of structure.
