Batamec Shipyard Arrests Chemical Tanker Ratna Blessing

The Indonesian shipyard PT Batamec, a subsidiary of the Singapore-based offshore marine company Otto Marine Limited, started proceedings in the High Court of Singapore on July 23 against the chemical tanker Ratna Blessing, which led to the arrest of the 2008-built ship for unpaid ship repair related charges.

The shipyard has commenced the proceedings through its lawyers Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP against the vessel, which is registered under RS Marine Investments Pte. Ltd.

According to AIS data provided by Marine Traffic, the vessel is currently at anchor off Singapore.

PT Batamec rendered repair services at their yard in Batam to the 9,100 dwt ship between December 2015 and March 2016.

Otto Marine said that partial payments for the services were effected but various outstanding charges remained.

RS Marine Investments Pte. Ltd. failed to make payment for the remaining charges despite reminders and PT Batamec was constrained to commence legal action against the tanker to recover the outstanding charges.

Both PT Batamec and the management of the Company are working closely with the Group’s lawyers to take all necessary actions to enforce PT Batamec’s rights against the Vessel as well as protect the interests and assets of the Group.
