BMO Extends CTV Motion Monitoring Deal with Ørsted

Ørsted has awarded BMO Offshore with a contract extension for the supply of vessel motion monitoring systems onboard its crew transfer vessels (CTVs).

Ørsted, former DONG Energy, contracted BMO Offshore in September last year to equip its CTVs with the monitoring systems.

The Danish developer uses the technology to track long-term performances of the vessels and the efficiency of the fleet regarding site conditions and workload.

The motion monitoring system gives wind farm operators and vessel owners advanced information on all vessel activities, which creates an easy framework for optimization of fuel consumption, crew planning, passenger comfort and safety, BMO said.

According to Ørsted, the initial testing conducted in spring 2017 showed that using the systems to quantify the performance of the vessels and evaluating their utilization for a long period can generate substantial efficiency improvements.
