Boskalis Subsea Services recently established a dedicated ROV department, backed by its Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Aberdeen, which opened in 2025, and is therefore undertaking the recruitment drive across the new department to support further growth.

This includes a targeted campaign to hire trainee ROC pilots, with several trainee intakes planned over the next two years.

So far, the company has recruited 28 offshore ROV roles to support projects scheduled for 2026, including its first female ROV pilot technician to its offshore team.

The trainee ROC program recruitment drive aims to broaden access to offshore careers, offering the opportunity for candidates to be based onshore, supporting offshore operations. This includes individuals with no traditional technical background, such as former police or military personnel, young people beginning their careers, and candidates seeking a structured onshore-based role with long-term progression opportunities.

The new ROV team and ROC are set to support a full schedule of projects beginning in 2026.

Gordon Low, ROV Manager at Boskalis Subsea Services, said: “We’re creating new opportunities at a time when the industry needs them, while also widening access to roles that have traditionally been difficult to enter. Our new ROC and our commitment to remote operations give us a strong platform for future growth, and we’re looking forward to developing the next generation here in Aberdeen.”
