Bureau Veritas names new Norwegian oil and gas head

Bureau Veritas (BV), a provider of testing, inspection and certification services, has appointed a new oil and gas manager for Norway.

BV said on Wednesday that Lars Kverneland was named as the oil and gas manager for Norway.

Kverneland, who joins BV following the retirement of Steinar Gronsand, has 28 years of direct industry experience, including project management, unit and business management, and personnel development.

BV emphasized that he holds experience from various leadership roles as well as developing and honing skills within sales and marketing, strategy, technology development, contract and tender negotiation and coordination.

Most recently, Kverneland worked as a business support manager for the operations department of DNVGL for oil and gas in Norway. He also worked as a project manager for large and multi-discipline projects within the offshore industry including work with Norsk Hydro, DONG, Equinor, ConocoPhillips, and BP.

Regarding his new appointment, Kverneland said: “The oil & gas business has experienced some extremely challenging years since the dramatic drop in oil price back in summer 2014.

“As the market picks up across the globe, the activity in Bureau Veritas Stavanger continues to strengthen. I will do my very best to ensure such development continues, working closely with the wider team to grow and develop our Norwegian base.”
