Canada: ShipConstructor Inc to Present CAD/ERP Integration Paper at ICCAS

ShipConstructor Software Inc (SSI), creator of an Autodesk-based shipbuilding software suite, will be presenting a paper showcasing a process-based approach to CAD/ERP integration at the 2011 International Conference on Computer Applications in Shipbuilding (ICCAS), September 20-22.

ICCAS, organized by the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA), is the world’s largest conference examining the role of information technology in the design and construction of ships and offshore structures. SSI is helping to sponsor this event.

The SSI paper, co-authored by CEO Darren Larkins and SSI USA Director of Operations Patrick Roberts, will present a real-world case study displaying best practices for integrating a CAD system with several different ERP systems at multiple shipyards.

Roberts says, “Shipbuilding CAD/CAM systems are a rich source of data to be consumed by data-hungry ERP applications. The paper illustrates how we have created a toolset and a repeatable process to aid integration whereby we can create a documented understanding of a shipyard’s operations to determine exactly what data needs to be shared between systems and the best method for doing so.”

ICCAS 2011 will be held at the Hotel Savoia in Trieste, Italy.

ShipConstructor Software Inc. (SSI) is the creator of ShipConstructor®, one of the world’s leading shipbuilding and offshore CAD/CAM systems.
