Cargotec’s Macgregor wins Moheshkhali LNG job

MacGregor, a Cargotec company, has been contracted to provide services for the mooring and riser system for the Moheshkhali floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.

MacGregor’s job is part of the engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract to provide Excelerate the mooring and gas transfer system for a floating storage and regasification unit.

The scope of the order includes on-vessel equipment, mooring connectors, as well as project management for the fabrication, procurement and project management of the complete mooring and riser system for the FSRU operated by Excelerate Energy.

The delivery is planned to be completed in the second quarter of 2018, Cargotec said.

Michel van Roozendaal, president, MacGregor, noted the “order is a natural step in our strategy to expand to the FSRU market.”

Excelerate Energy is co-developing Bangladesh’s first LNG import terminal with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for state-owned Petrobangla.

The construction of the terminal will commence in the fourth quarter of 2017 and is expected to be in service by mid-2018.

The terminal will include the provision of one of Excelerate’s existing FSRUs with a 138,000 cubic meters storage capacity, the installation of a subsea buoy system anchored offshore, and the employment of port service vessels during operation.
