Cheniere amends Corpus Christi LNG deal with Bechtel

The US LNG export player Cheniere said it’s unit Corpus Christi Liquefaction signed a $2.36 billion amended turnkey deal for with Bechtel for Stage 2 of the Corpus Christi LNG facility on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The amended agreement for engineering, procurement and construction of the Corpus Christi LNG stage 2 replaces the previous contract signed in December 2013, Cheniere said.

The work to be performed by Bechtel under the EPC contract includes procurement, engineering, design, installation, training, commissioning and placing into service of one liquefaction train with an expected nominal production capacity of approximately 4.5 mtpa, one LNG storage tank as well as the completion of the second berth and related facilities.

The Corpus Christi LNG export plant is already over 77 percent complete. Cheniere has completed its FEED study on a midscale liquefaction solution for the Corpus Christi expansion project and began the process of amending the filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to incorporate midscale liquefaction technology.

The project involves up to seven midscale liquefaction trains adjacent to the Corpus Christi liquefaction project, each with an expected nominal production capacity of approximately 1.4 mtpa of LNG. The total expected nominal production capacity of the seven midscale trains is approximately 9.5 mtpa.
