China: After 9 Days of Repairs M.V. Nomadic Milde Exits Changxing Shipyard

M.V. Nomadic Milde departed from Changxing Shipyard after 9 days repair on 31st August 2011. The subject vessel is a container/bulk carrier. Due to strong storm during her last voyage, the cargo inside No.1 hold collided with the transverse & longitudinal bulkhead and the tween deck hatch cover and caused the large scale damage and deformation of the bulkhead.

The vessel had tight repair period due to the cargo commitment. The shipyard production department arranged sufficient labour to attend the repair job. The working process of the bulkhead repair was quite difficult because it connected to the unexposed and narrow space nearby refer to bilateral cofferdam, lower WBT and the oil tank iwo left front of. No.1hold.

During the working performance there was high temperature and without the ventilation inside the cargo hold after closing the hatch cover to avoid rain falling in. Under all the adverse condition, the yard arranged workshop to conquer all the difficulties. Finally, all the repair work finished in time and the vessel sailed from the yard as per the owner’s request.
