China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Completes Repair Works for MELODIE V

On 11th July 2012, the vessel MELODIE V sailed away from the CIC Changxing Shipyard wharf after the shipyard successfully completed the repair project of M/T MELODIE V. The main job for this vessel was the bilge water pipe installation and E/P normal repair.

The vessel is a chemical tanker belonging to a shipping company of UAE. Because the vessel’s last cargo was chemical product some works in the cargo tanks had to be done which brought some difficulties to the shipyard. The shipyard officers took care to this repair and required the production department to arrange a serious repair plan and bought the anti-poison masks for the workers in advance. Due to the limit of time and new additional work scope increased, the workshops well organized the labor force and made precaution of the heatstroke for smooth performance.

The main steel job was No. 6 P & S ballast tank slope longitudinal cross tank, No. 7 P & S ballast tank slope longitudinal, No. 2 P & S ballast tank bulkhead.
