China: COSL’s Deepwater Survey Vessel HYSY708 Begins Operation

China Oilfield Services Limited (“COSL”) announced that HYSY708, a deepwater survey vessel, has successfully completed a sampling mission for a geological drilling engineering and a 300-meter seabed drilling.

The quality of these samples has met the standards of geological drilling engineering sampling. This milestone achievement officially marked the operation commencement of the survey vessel.

With Dynamic Positioning (DP2) technology, and capability to support deepwater surveying and engineering, HYSY708 is currently the only survey vessel in China that can operate under Sea State 5- Rough condition. HYSY708 has designed operating depths of up to 3,000 meters, a drilling capability at 600 meters below sea level, and a maximum crane lift capability of 150 tonnes. The vessel is also capable of equipping with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) for deepwater surveying in the future.

The operation commencement of the vessel is a strong boost to COSL’s deepwater service capability.
