China: Tianjin Xingang Completes Repair of HAI CHANG YOU 9

On January 9th 2012, all the docking repair works on vessel  “HAI CHANG YOU 9” were completed and the vessel was undocked smoothly. The Shipyard finished the rudder system work with high quality and efficiency.

As the starboard rudder blade was lost, the rudder blade and foundation hole casting were newly fabricated by the Shipyard. The new rudder blade was lapped and matched with rudder stock. The joint cone part between portside rudder stock and rudder blade loosed. Taper hole of rudder blade, rudder stock cone and the connecting thread of rudder stock were eroded seriously, the size distorted and keyway deformed seriously, these should be reconditioned.

In order to save time for owners, they prefabricated starboard rudder blade and foundation hole casting in advance. After the vessel delivered to the Shipyard, they immediately measured portside rudder stock and taper hole of rudder blade at once. Their technician rewelded and machined P & S rudder stock cone and key groove, bored the taper hole of rudder blade, fabricated the key and lapped & matched rudder blade and rudder stock. P & S rudder were restored and rudder-turning test was accepted at one time. “HAI CHANG YOU 9” departed from the Shipyard on January 10th 2012.
