CLNG applauds legislation clarifying export process

The Center for Liquefied Natural Gas (CLNG) commended the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for supporting a provision in the proposed Energy Policy Modernization Act that will offer greater certainty to the United States’ natural gas industry.

Under the terms of the legislation, the Department of Energy must issue a decision on any application to export U.S. liquefied natural gas to non-free trade agreement countries no later than 45 days after the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has concluded its review, CLNG said in a statement

Providing developers with greater certainty during the comprehensive approval process will help unlock billions of dollars of investment and create thousands of jobs for Americans,” Casey O’Shea, spokesperson for CLNG said.

The fact that members from both sides of the aisle have come together on this legislation demonstrates that it is a win-win, common-sense solution – one that will benefit all parts of the United States economy. As the bill goes to the Senate floor for a full vote, we urge Senators to offer their support so that the United States can begin to take full advantage of its plentiful natural gas resources.”
