COSLPioneer Moves Drilling Operation to Brugdan II (Faroe Islands)

The COSLPioneer semi-submersible drilling rig completed the anchor handling at Glitne and sailed to Åmøy on Wedensday 6 June. Operations went as planned without serious incidents or accidents.

Unfortunately, the well was “dry” so the production completions of the well was canceled. In addition to the crew change there has been performed a DP test and a lot of cargo handling as part of the preparations for the up coming operations at Brugdan II, at the Faroe Islands.

On June 12 COSLPioneer left Åmøy for her voyage to the location of Brugdan II. ETA: Saturday the 16 June.

The Brugdan II operation will be the first DP operation performed by COSLPioneer at a water depths of 459 meters. The duration of the project is estimated to approxemetly 130 days. Parts of the formation to be drilled (2500 meters) is a very hard lava called Basalt, and the drilling rates will be low in this formation.

COSL will be represented in the Capital Torshavn during the operations at the Faroes.
