DOF Subsea awarded Prelude FLNG contract

Norwegian provider of subsea services to the oil and gas industry, DOF Subsea, has been awarded a contract by Shell to provide full-time underwater services and multi-purpose supply vessel (MPSV) to the Prelude FLNG facility.

DOF Subsea won a five-year inspection, maintenance and repair contract with two two-year extension options, under which it will provide project management, engineering and integrated services for IMR programs as well as the dedicated vessel and options for other vessels, the company said in it statement.

Prelude FLNG, currently under construction at the Samsung Heavy Industries’ shipyard in South Korea is the largest of its kind with 488m in length and 74m in width, and it will be moored 475 kilometers north-east of Broome in Western Australia.

The FLNG facility is expected to stay moored at the Prelude gas field for 25 years, and is expected to produce 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of LPG for export.
